128T platform offers only tunnel-free SD-WAN solution on market for increased network security and bandwidth savings

BURLINGTON, Mass. — 128 Technology today announced that TOKAI Communications has selected its 128T Networking Platform as the foundation of the SD-WAN managed service TOKAI Communications will be offering its enterprise customers. The full-service TOKAI Communications solution will provide customers a fully-integrated Session Smart™ routing solution at scale. TOKAI Communications, based in Japan, is a telecommunications company providing enterprise network solutions.

TOKAI Communications selected 128 Technology’s software-based, session-aware routing over alternative Internet Protocol Security (IPsec)-based SD-WAN solutions because 128 Technology offers simplicity, scalability and cost-savings that other SD-WAN vendors can’t offer.

Competitive SD-WAN offerings use tunnel-based overlay networks such as IPsec, which are complex, consume bandwidth and don’t deliver the security and agility needed in today’s business environment. 128 Technology’s Networking Platform is “tunnel-free,” but integrates all the requisite security capabilities natively into the router. The platform is built from the ground-up as “service-centric” and integrates significant bandwidth savings and true zero-trust security directly into the network. This ensures that TOKAI Communications’s enterprise customers experience smooth and secure network operations.

“128 Technology’s partnership with TOKAI Communications is further market validation that our 128T platform can help providers deliver a business-building network for their customers,” said Andy Ory, CEO of 128 Technology. “Analysts project that 50% or more of SD-WAN deployments will be delivered by a Service Providers. Our breakthrough technology helps TOKAI Communications deliver a cost-effective SD-WAN service with greater agility and performance.”

“Enterprises and service providers are struggling with the reality that today’s Segment Routing is not session smart,” said Jennifer Pigg Clark at Battleground Research. “For applications demanding hypersegmentation a session oriented solution such as 128 Technology’s provides simplified, lower cost, more agile connectivity.”
